This caught our eye the other day. It struck us as arresting that in the simple act of putting a chair on top of a table,<\/span><\/div>\n
you could rob both objects of their original function and turn the whole structure into sculpture. \u00a0Right now, the table’s function is to support the chair. \u00a0\u00a0So now the chair has lost its function as well, becoming only something for the table to hold up. \u00a0What was once two pieces of furniture\u00a0has now become just one piece of art. \u00a0Oscar Wilde was right: “All art is totally useless.”<\/span><\/div>\n
